Screen Printing is the Best!
Screen printing has been around for over 1,000 years and hasn't changed much since it began – it's essentially pressing ink through a screen (a stencil) directly into fabric. You'd think that after all these years people would find a better way to print on fabric, they keep trying, but nothing looks or feels as good as screen printing.
Screen printing uses spot colors, these are colors made from solid pigments. Solid pigments create the most vibrant, durable, and consistent prints. We only screen print with most sustainable certified organic pigments, 100% organic indigo, or reclaimed sewage sludge purified into super clean carbon (the building block of all life). These pigments are printed into the fibers of the shirt which creates the softest, best looking, and longest lasting prints possible.
To screen print a design we break it down into individual color layers, create a screen for each color (a stencil) for the ink to pass through, make colors from scratch by eye, align all the screens on our printing press, and print the colors in succession to achieve the final image. It’s complicated and beautiful and ultimately yields the best results. There are cheaper and easier ways to print custom apparel, but they all pale in comparison to screen printing with our ultra-sustainable water based inks.
