Organic Inks

Our organic, water-based inks meet the highest standards and stand the test of time.

Most screen printing companies offer toxic, oil-based ink called ‘plastisol’ that contains petroleum based plastics. Others claim to offer eco-friendly soy based ink and water-based ‘discharge’ ink. The truth this these inks still contain harmful chemicals and known human carcinogens like formaldehyde while releasing toxic gasses like sulfur dioxide.

At Print Natural we use the world’s most eco friendly GOTS certified organic, vegan, water-based ink. These inks offer the softest and most durable prints possible. Our organic water-based inks are not only better for the environment, they're better for your skin and more comfortable to wear. They're also super durable, achieving a rating of 8/8 on the Blue Wool Scale which measures resistance to fading.

Print Natural inks do not contain ozone-depleting chemicals such as CFCs, HCFCs, aromatic hydrocarbons or volatile solvents. They are also free of lead, heavy metals and toxic chemicals. Our inks passed the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class 1 and are safe to use on underwear and baby clothes (infants under 2 years). Print Natural inks were also granted Approval by the Soil Association in the UK, having successfully met the requirements of the Global Organic Textiles Standards (GOTS) for use in organic textile processing. The ink ingredients are not sourced from animals and our inks are not tested on animals. Ingredients that are sourced from plants are certified GMO free!

Organic Indigo Ink

100% Certified Organic Indigo

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new organic indigo ink, pigmented with organic indigo! This 100% plant based pigment combines the rich tradition of natural dyeing with the modern demands for sustainability and durability. Our organic indigo ink offers vibrant, enduring color without compromising on environmental responsibility.

Maintaining all of the sustainable elements of our standard certified organic water-based ink, you can now print your custom apparel with the deep, authentic hues of natural indigo, known for its exceptional colorfastness and durability. Our indigo ink provides consistent, high-quality prints that withstand the test of time and break in like your favorite pair of jeans.

All of our Indigo extract comes from a farm in South India that practices sustainable growing methods. After extraction, the wastewater and composted leaves are returned to the field to feed the next crop. Our indigo and ink are both certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

Our indigo ink is the best fit for 100% cotton garments. When selecting a garment be sure to check the fiber content for compatibility with this unique printing process.

Indigo ink can be printed as light blue or darker blue color like the examples below!

Rethink Black

This ink transforms organic waste, eats greenhouse gasses, and destroys harmful pollutants, including PFAS (forever chemicals)!

We partnered with OurCarbon® and Virus Inks to exclusively offer this revolutionary ink that transforms biosolids from wastewater treatment (that would normally end up in a landfill) into a super clean, carbon negative black pigment. This water based ink is made with 80% bio based ingredients and tinted exclusively with OurCarbon.

The vast majority of black inks used today are made with a highly polluting pigment called Carbon Black that comes from the combustion of crude oil. For each ton of this material produced, more than 3 tons of CO2 (the main greenhouse gas causing global warming) are released into the atmosphere.

OurCarbon's pigment comes from organic waste transformed through pyrolysis, the heating of organic materials to high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. The high heat and low oxygen environment destroys contaminants, including microplastics, pharmaceuticals, and even PFAS.

The result is a clean fixed carbon pigment, bound together so tightly it will not break down into greenhouse gases for centuries. For every ton of pigment produced, over 1 ton of CO2 is removed from the atmospheric cycle – it's carbon negative!

Printing with this black ink consumes less energy, uses less materials, and really transforms waste into something clean and valuable! It's ultimately the most sustainable option when it comes to screen printing custom apparel.
