Allmade Apparel was founded in 2017 by screen printers whose main goal was to create a better shirt to print on. They traveled to Haiti, where they learned of the negative impacts apparel manufacturing has on the environment as well as the poor conditions and low wages endured by the shirt makers. They made it their mission to produce a shirt with less impact on the environment that also provided fair wage jobs in ethically operated workplaces.

Allmade tees are created with less water than conventional tees, so there’s more H2O left for living things. Also, our entire line is now carbon neutral! We calculate all the carbon emissions generated during the product’s life cycle and use carbonfund.org to offset the emissions. We also have solar panels on the rooftops of our cut & sew factory, which provides electricity to the building. We hope to be trendsetters in our industry and encourage others to join us in putting people and the planet first.

Each of our Founders are equally passionate about creating a better shirt for a better tomorrow. A shirt that is not only eco-friendly, but one that also helps give people a leg up and benefits orphan care. This time last year our founders came together and defined Allmade’s values. These values help our company and the people in it have a reason for the work that they do.

Here at Allmade, we started creating our values by writing down on sticky notes what we wanted our company to be. The founders wrote down values such as helping the needy, jobs before automation, ethical wages, fair trade, eco-friendly, defying the status quo, and more. Each of these things were combined and transformed into our four core values. Which are: 

• Bring the Fire - We advocate, share, and fully commit to our purpose. When the chips are down, we preserve through doubt, through failure, and through those who don't believe or who try to stop us.

• Selfless Love - It is not about us, it is bigger than us. We will give love to the people who need it and to the mother earth that supports it before us. We are all about people and the planet over the process. Fair wages, as well as sustainable supply chain and business practices, are at the top of our minds. 

• Openness - We are transparent and we are inclusive. We are open to new ways of doing things and new people to do them with. 

• Prestige - We build widespread respect and admiration in the market based on our quality, our achievements, and our purpose.

We lead, we care, we make a difference.  Our partner factory in Honduras, Elcatex, is a 500,000 square foot, family-owned, textile mill that specializes in knits like our special low-impact tri-blend. They’re one of the best at basics, and with their help, we can get a lot more sustainable t-shirts in production.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Elcatex is a pioneer in environmental sustainability.  They have invested in the renewable energy sector in Honduras and built renewable energy plants to power their facilities; installing large rooftop solar panels on all facilities. In addition, at their biomass plant, King Grass is grown and harvested, and using anaerobic digesters, is combusted to generate electricity and heat. Their textile plant uses innovative dyeing and washing technology to reduce water and chemical usage.

Allmade values the advancement of worker conditions above all. Elcatex is involved in the Honduras 2020 Development Plan; building communities that include recreational areas, parks and schools, sports facilities, places of worship and easy access to public transport with a goal to offer textile workers the opportunity to own their own homes in sustainable communities. Elcatex’s Formatex program helps their workers to re-enter formal education and earn their high school diploma, all within their facilities and during working hours, enabling easier access to education.

Established in 1974 by Mrs. Sarla Ahuja, Shahi has grown to become India’s largest apparel manufacturer, operating 65 factories and 3 processing mills across 9 states. They have over 100,000 employees, including 67,000 women, and are committed to serving their customers through design-led innovation, vertically integrated operations, and positive social and environmental business practices.
